Once this information reached the Collector, he immediately informed Dausa SP Ranjita Sharma and filed a complaint at the cyber police station. A New Case of Cyber Fraud: Demand for Money from Officials
On Saturday, a fake WhatsApp ID bearing the picture of Collector Devendra Kumar Yadav was used to demand money from several tehsildars in the district, particularly from officials in Baswa and Lalsot. Three tehsildars promptly informed the district collector about this matter. Following this, the collector provided the number xxxxxx6101 associated with the fake ID to the SP and filed a complaint at the cyber police station. This incident points to the increasing cases of cyber fraud.
Cyber Thieves' Activity: Demanding Money from Acquaintances
Collector Devendra Kumar Yadav reported that cyber thieves created a fake ID using his picture and demanded money from his acquaintances and subordinate officials. The collector was informed of this incident in a timely manner, after which he appealed to the public via social media and personal messages not to send any money to this fake number. The collector's prompt action helped prevent potential fraud.
Increase in Incidents of Fake IDs: Thieves Active in Other Districts as Well
Collector Devendra Kumar Yadav stated that cyber thieves have created fake WhatsApp IDs in the names of collectors from several districts, including Sawai Madhopur and Kekri. Meanwhile, there have been no reports of anyone sending money to these numbers. During the investigation, it was discovered that this fake WhatsApp account is being operated from a number in Uzbekistan. DSP Brajesh Meena of the cyber police station confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, but so far, no formal complaints have been received, making this issue even more concerning.
