The Samajwadi Party has given a ticket to Tej Pratap Yadav from the Karhal assembly seat in Mainpur district. This announcement was previously confirmed by the party's General Secretary Ramgopal Yadav. Tej Pratap Yadav is the son-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, and he is also the nephew of Akhilesh Yadav. The Karhal assembly seat became vacant after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was elected as an MP. By fielding Tej Pratap from this seat, the party has introduced an influential leader who could prove significant for the SP.
