Lucknow: Politics heated up in Lucknow over the issue of paying tribute on the occasion of Jayaprakash Narayan's birth anniversary. The police administration, with the help of the Lucknow Development Authority, closed the JP-NIC by erecting high tin shed barricades. In protest against this move, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav arrived at JP-NIC in Gomti Nagar on Thursday night at 11:30 PM. He described the government’s decision as disrespectful to great leaders and stated that such actions amount to erasing their legacy. Yadav demanded that the government immediately revoke its decision.
In a conversation with the media, former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the government wants to hide something by putting up the tin shed. He questioned why this shed was erected and why respect is not being given to the great leader Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary. Yadav emphasized that this is not an isolated incident; similar occurrences have happened in the past, indicating the government’s disregard.
Akhilesh Yadav noted that every year, socialists gather at JP-NIC to commemorate Jayaprakash Narayan’s birth anniversary, where there is a socialist museum and a statue of Jayaprakash. He raised the question of what the government aims to hide with the tin shed, asserting that walls cannot stop ideologies. Due to concerns about Samajwadi workers gathering to pay tribute, the police administration has increased security, deploying additional forces outside JP-NIC. Meanwhile, work was also ongoing to install a tin shed at the central gate.
