Bilaspur: The High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of KK Srivastava, a close aide of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in a 15 crore fraud case. The plea was heard in the Chief Justice's court, where Srivastava sought bail to evade charges of financial irregularities. The court's rejection has dealt a significant blow to Srivastava.
KK Srivastava, known to be close to former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, is accused of defrauding 15 crore from a Delhi-based construction company by falsely promising a 500 crore Smart City project contract. Arjun Rawat, the owner of Rawat Associates, paid this amount to Srivastava between July 10 and 17, 2023. However, the company did not receive any contract, revealing the fraud. Following this, a complaint was lodged against Srivastava at the Telibandha police station in Raipur.
The police have declared Srivastava and his wife, Kanchan Srivastava, as absconders, and a reward of 10,000 rupees has been announced for their capture. To avoid arrest, Srivastava filed an anticipatory bail plea in the High Court, which was rejected, further escalating his legal troubles.
