Bilaspur | The High Court has dismissed a teacher's complaint and acquitted the accused teacher of rape. The court found that the teacher had given consent for the relationship. This case is related to a government primary school in the Balodabazar district, where the teacher alleged that a male teacher came to her house in 2018. He sent her child outside by giving him chocolate and proposed marriage.
When the teacher refused to marry him, the accused threatened to harm her child and raped her. However, the court deemed this narrative suspicious and dismissed the teacher's claims, acquitting the teacher. This decision underscores the importance of consent and evidence in cases of rape in society.
The police registered a case based on the victim's complaint and submitted a charge sheet in court, but the court acquitted the accused after the hearing, stating that the crime was not established. The victim then appealed to the High Court. During the hearing, witness statements revealed that there were other tenants living in the rented house where the victim resided, and she did not inform anyone about the incident.
Witnesses for the accused stated that he took the woman to his village according to social customs and made her wear bangles, where they stayed for three to four days. The High Court dismissed the teacher's appeal on this basis, upholding the lower court's decision, believing that there was consent for the relationship between the two.
