Love Jihad: A Conspiracy Funded from Abroad, Accused Sentenced to Life Imprisonment.

Bareilly | The Fast Track Court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced the accused to life imprisonment in a Love Jihad case. During the hearing, Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar commented that incidents of Love Jihad are being funded from abroad, which has sparked controversy. He referred to it as "an example of Love Jihad," stating that such cases involve deception and religious conversion. Given the rising cases of Love Jihad in Uttar Pradesh, the hearing has generated societal concern and debate, with the court's remarks attracting even more attention.

Love Jihad: A Conspiracy to Create Turmoil in the World

Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar made serious comments regarding Love Jihad, stating that its primary objective is to change demographics and create international unrest. It is driven by extremist groups that are converting non-Muslim women to Islam through fraudulent marriages. According to a report by the Times of India, the victim changed her statement in court, claiming her initial statement was made under pressure from right-wing individuals on her parents. This statement highlights the sensitivity and politics surrounding the case.

Historic 42-Page Order Issued

Judge Ravi Kumar extensively discussed the nature, purpose, and funding of Love Jihad, issuing a 42-page order. He had previously ordered the videographic survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi and the sealing of the Wuzukhana. The judge noted that illegal conversions are carried out by some extremists who are involved in or support such activities, but this does not represent all religious communities. He also mentioned the significant role of financial resources in Love Jihad and that the possibility of foreign funding in this case cannot be dismissed.

Love Jihad: A New Definition

The court considered Love Jihad a serious threat, describing it as a conspiracy to destabilize India, akin to Pakistan and Bangladesh, posing a risk to the country's unity, integrity, and sovereignty. The decision clearly defined Love Jihad as a case of illegal conversion, where men from a specific community attempt to convert women from other communities to their religion through deceitful marriages. In this case, the accused, Mohammad Aleem, deceived the victim by using the name Anand and raped her after marrying her according to Hindu customs. Subsequently, he threatened her with her photos and videos, repeatedly raping her.

Woman Changed Statement in Court

The woman gave a statement against the accused on July 31, 2024, but did not appear in court later. After a warrant was issued against her, she was presented in court on September 19, where she changed her statement in favor of Aleem. The court concluded that she was influenced by the accused and therefore rejected her updated statement, leading to a new twist in the case.
